Kayak Trolling Motor

Otago Daily Times Filed Under: ATV Utility Vehicle Hunting Buggy – The rear electric atv motor is visible mounted on the rear axle of the Barefoot Motors electric ATV prototype Electric all-terrain vehicles may not impress the dune-and trail-riding crowd that rides for recreation, but a few small companies expect organic farmers and vineyard growers will pay a premium to gather cattle and spray vines without the carbon footprint of a gas vehicle. While automakers are toiling to produce electric cars that will fit the demands of American drivers, Ashland-based Barefoot Motors is on the verge of turning out heavy-duty electric ATVs that can go 50 miles on a charge costing about 90 cents. She’d like to haul her spraying equipment without fogging the vines with exhaust fumes, and the electric ATV motors could get free power from the vineyard’s solar panels. It’s even more cost-efficient for farms producing their own power from solar panels or manure digesters, and as gas prices go up. Barefoot is not the first electric ATV coming to market.

Understanding the theory of wiring in series and parallel is helpful, but not necessary. Trolling motors requiring voltages higher than volts need multiple batteries to produce the voltage re [More] How to hook up a 24 volt system using four 12 volt batteries Category: If you wire batteries in series, you combine the volts from the two batteries but the batteries’ capacity remains the same.

They provide the angler with control that is not possible with a gasoline powered motor. In order to create a volt system, two volt batteries must be wired together.

There are no silica gels used.

Mounting a Trolling Motor on the Transom 1 Open the mounting bracket clamps. Transom-mounted trolling motors have 1 or 2 clamps built into the mounting bracket to hold the motor in place. Turning the clamps counterclockwise to the left will open them. The trolling motor should be placed as close to the center of the stern as possible without interfering with the operation of the main motor, if there is one.

The top of the mounting bracket should be flush with the top of the stern. Turn the clamps clockwise to the right as far as they will go, so that the motor won’t vibrate loose while in operation. Transom-mounted trolling motors should be positioned so that the center of the motor section is at least 9 inches This produces noise that can spook fish.

Method Mounting a Trolling Motor on the Engine 1 Place the mounting bracket on top of the engine’s anti-cavitation plate, with the motor up. The anti-cavitation is a horizontal plate above the propeller on either an outboard motor or the outboard unit of an inboard-outboard motor that keeps the propeller from breaking the water’s surface as it pushes the boat forward.

The mounting bracket is designed so that when the boat is “on plane” the bow lifts out of the water as the boat skims across its surface , the trolling motor does break the water’s surface. Your anti-cavitation plate must run at a depth of at least 13 inches

Add Tip Ask Question Step 1: Replacing the Rudder So you are like me trying to find a way to fish and kayak at the same time without fighting with the paddles, fishing line, and everything else that tends to mess you up. You have lost the use of your limbs and can not paddle anymore. I want to help you re-aging your ability to enjoy kayaking with your families. Inside the pictures, you will see captions that describe the steps that I will be taking as we go. I will also add a couple of notes to help you along the way.

It has a tight wound construction that can reduce the risk of battery damage.

Ask Question Step 3: Early Frame Construction The building started with me starting a bit before the sun went down but i started cutting out pieces 2 feet in length for the bottom area. I decided on the height by how high a 2 foot section of pipe went at a 45 degree angle. Next boat I think I would choose a hull height that is about a foot or just under a foot next time 17 inches was a bit tall.

I did not have a camera during the beginning of the project just my phone This is just a general idea of what I wanted the frame to look like more supports and tubing will be added soon. Add Tip Ask Question Step 4: Finishing Up Frame and Gluing The great thing about pvc piping is that it is very forgiving so if you do mess up with a section you can usually cut around it and add or remove length with other couplings.

How to Connect a Trolling Motor to a Battery

Got a fishing question? That’s what we’re here for. You’re expecting Winnie to turn over soon? And after that no fish? I always thought they kept their feed bag on until ice hits. Here’s a link to the original comment.

Two 12 volt batteries can link together and add 24 volts to the motor, and three batteries link together to add 36 volts to the motor.

There are three types of batteries for your trolling motor. Wet-Cell Batteries They are also known as deep cell marine batteries. They are relatively inexpensive and, are tough enough to handle constant drains and recharges. They do require some maintenance, topping off the water. They usually last between years.

They are built using a glass plate and gel-like substance. They cost up to two times more than a wet-cell battery but last longer, usually between years. Lithium-ion Batteries They can last a relatively long life if kept at a temperature of under degrees. They can last up to 10 years, but expect to pay the most money for these batteries.

Like most game fish, stripers slow down during the colder months of the year. Most striped bass anglers I know troll around two miles per hour in spring. In summer, as water temperatures warm, stripers must eat more to support a livelier metabolism. This leads anglers in the know to increase their speeds as high as four to five mph. As each year falls anglers again may choose to return to spring time fishing patterns, as similar weather trends come about. But soon winter is upon the lakes we fish, and most sportsmen opt to winterize their boats, or store their kayaks.

The Gear Selecter Setup I have had a couple steps to add.

Each one has different features, some of a benefit over others. The reason I got the Cannons was I knew a salesman who gave me a good deal on them. After I had a chance to see how the Scotty electrics were used by a Alaskan salmon guide, when I sold that boat, I gave the guy a good deal on the whole package. I would not want a manual version where the handle rotated as the line was being let out.

This can be an arm breaker. If you take it to a repair center for any problem, like even a uneven drag, most time they will update it to the newest type of parts for no cost.. They have a 2 way switch on the upper arm control box. This box has a slot that the wire is run thru. It has a kind of pivoting door that is controlled by the switch on the top.

Like power steering for your trolling motor, the electronic assist steering makes it easier to make steering adjustments, while still providing the positive feed back from the foot pedal that anglers love about traditional cable-steer motors. It has everything the Ultrex i-Pilot Trolling Motor has, plus the ability to follow depth contours, retrace your tracks, and return to productive waypoints and paths.

The new i-Pilot remote included offers improved functionality and enhanced durability.

Marine Battery Wiring Author: Wes Wiedmaier Many customers have questions on the subject of wiring trolling motors and marine electronics. This step-by-step guide aims to simplify the process. The battery system on most boats can be broken down into two parts: The volt starter cranking battery delivers cranking power to the outboard motor. It can also be used as the power source for onboard electronics, such as depth finders.

The trolling-motor battery system consists of one, two or three volt batteries connected together in a series using jumper wire.

Rolls batteries www. It’s not good for them to sit discharged. Proper care will significantly improve the battery life. Failure to recharge lead-acid batteries within hours is the leading cause of premature battery failure. A battery selector switch as applied in a bay or flats boat is a VERY useful tool that assures redundancy as well as “peace of mind” for the vessel’s owner.

A high quality battery selector switch should have a sufficient capacity power rating to safely handle the 12vdc electrical power required.

It will work on nearly all bodies of water. Using long crappie poles, the idea is to cover as much water as possible to find the elusive crappie. Loading up six to eight rods on the front of the boat allows me to cover a wide path and have a more stable boat while trolling. With two people sitting in the front of the boat, the added weight pushes the boat deeper into the water, stabilizing it.

Enjoying one of the many beautiful beaches of Magnetic Island. So I thought I would post up a bit of information on what works for me. I tend to approach trolling for Doggie Mackerel in exactly the same way I would Spanish Mackerel, just on a smaller scale. So my lure selection and technique is very similar. So for Doggies I like the same lure, but in a smaller size. The CD9 is about right. Its 9cm in length and dives to around 3m.

The areas of the Weedbeds that I like are between 3m and 4m in depth, so this is perfect. Like for Spanish Mackerel, the red head and white body is hard to pass up, but any good reflective colour is fine. The Rapala range of lures are on the pricey side of things, and in the small size can be hard to come by.
